Unfortunately,  The road conditions were such that we were unable to attend.  So now I have an extra nine for next time!  Holidays are quiet here,  just the family.   

This, Is one of the only works of merit that came out of my Printmaking class.  A collograph. It's sort of a surrealist type image and I really like it.

Merry Christmas everyone!

This is one of a few works I've crankjed out this season (aka the last few days) for my younger brother. This is his dog,  Gumdrop.

More Art work

These are the first two pieces from my studio class.  The first (The main figure) is in the process of being repainted, and the second, needs a background.  I was thinking some kind of field of dead mammoths or something. (It goes with the story.)

The background is always something I've struggled with, and is something I need to work on.

These are still all in acrylics.

Here is another older work in it's near finished stage.  It was for my first semester 8x8 project.

It is 8 ft x 8 ft, and was fun to do!

Dec Atcs

I haven't done these in a while, so It was a little funky working that small (3 1/2 by 2 1/2)  But they turned out pretty nice.  I would've done more but I ran out of time.  That happens a lot.

I'm gonna be working on that.

Studio number four

A roiling battle.  This is one of the final works for my studio class.  I won't attempt to explain it, just take it at face value, and know that it doesn't look like this anymore.  (I'll post the most recent version later.)  It's still not finished, but it will be.

It's acrylics by the way.

Persistence of Vision

A little about the title.

 

Persistence of vision is the phenomenon of the eye by which even nanoseconds of exposure to an image result in milliseconds of reaction (sight) from the retina to the optic nerves. This is because persistence of vision depends on chemical transmission of nerve responses, and this biochemical hysteresis is much slower than the light transmission.

It goes on and on, but the bottom line is it relates to the optical illusions in the rapid viewing of frames as in film and animation.  Or even flip books. 

But to me, besides the implications in a visual art medium, (animation, film, etc.) This phrase can also mean other things.

Perhaps, The persistence of the vision?  As in relation to artistic drive.  

My vision persists.

That was what I was thinking when I named my blog.  

It's such a pain coming up with interesting names for stuff like this.  

I think It suits it.

An Opening Chat

I want to start this blog off with a first and foremost statement of intent.  My grammar will be incorrect at times, my thoughts may be jumbled, but it will not be some online journal of my deep dark thoughts.  I'll try my best not to rant or rage.  But this I can not guarantee.  

Primarily, this is an art blog. Showcasing my work and inspirations.  

Also, under the inspirations catagory there will be many eclectic subjects.  These will include but will not be limited to: 

Art and visual language, Time, Space, Religion, Japan, China, Robots, Knights, Swords, Animation, Comics, The Figure,   Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Anything of intrest to me what-so-ever.

I have many goals, ambitions, and ideas.  Some of which I may talk about here.  But right now I think I'll keep it about my art.
